LINKS is distinctive in that it provides a continuum from the research role (data collection, data analysis, primary research, perspectives and statistics) and options for problem resolution to engagement of citizens in a facilitated community process leading to active participation in community building.
Research Process
The research process at LINKS begins with an assessment of the most significant policy concerns of the day. From there, key quality of life issues are analyzed and data is compiled. The LINKS process also has an educational component. The LINKS team takes the findings to the community in forums, dialogues, and in a group problem solving process that seeks to inform, educate and empower individuals to become a "link" in the work of community development. The LINKS process builds a collaborative problem "resolving" structure designed for long-term positive community change through sound public policy development.
Research Approach
LINKS research is driven by one maxim: speak the truth. To do this LINKS research associates and fellows apply best practices in information gathering, data analysis and primary research to become an information generator for the purpose of catalyzing community action. Our research team follows a rigorous process that allows for in depth issue analysis, creating a "think tank" atmosphere that encourages challenging the status quo. The LINKS Report distills an issue and provides recommendations on public policy issues.
